It was obvious that the man was going to end up in the dock at some stage, you cannot be a global megastar and act and talk the way he does and expect nothing to be done about it.
I will withold judgement on the man until the evidence is made public but my own personal feeling is that he is slightly insane and, whatever he did, he cannot see why society feels that his behaviour is wrong. A pathetic ending to the career of one of the greatest performing artists of all time.
I'm wearing black today, not because I think he's guilty but because white makes me look like an obese elephant.
I support a fair trial and, as others have already mentioned, I cannot possible say whether he is innocent or guilty without hearing any evidence, although my opinion is that he needs help.
I don't believe that he has sexually abused the boys but I do think that a man in his 40's shouldn't be sharing his bed with children.
I also cannot understand why any parent in their right mind would let their child sleep in a bed with a grown man (who is not their father, brother, etc) without being present, which leads me to suspect that perhaps they are not the doting mothers they are painting themselves out to be.
I agree with Jills, that MJ should be punished (or not) according to his crimes and I strongly believe he should be made to realise that sharing a bed or a bath with a child that is not your own is wrong. I also agree with someone on the previous page (I forgot your name!) who mentioned that he has been in court before, and that perhaps it ought to have made him think a little before getting himself in this situation again.
After the video he put on his website I think the penny is finally dropping that he cannot continue to act like this should he be found innocent.
I think the interesting question is whether he can have a fair trial in America? Maybe 12 "death mettlers" would be the only people who would actually listen to the details of the case :)
As someone else rightly said, they key will be whether the outcome matches the evidence. Whatever you think of MJ on a personal level, we do stand to lose one of the greatest pop song writers and performers the world has ever known. Obviously if he is guilty then rightly so - but do we really trust the american courts to find out whether he's guilty or not?
'' Whatever you think of MJ on a personal level, we do stand to lose one of the greatest pop song writers and performers the world has ever known. "
That should not come into the equation at all.Thats the one thing that troubles me about this thread, would and i include myself in this, we have as much understanding for a ordinary guy if he was on these charges..no it would be guilty as charged sir do we have to hear the evidence. There is a arrogance about jackson that at times comes out, and the hero worship of his fans outside the courtroom is also nauseating.
Reminds me of the oj simpson fiasco and all those awful "free the juice" chants. all this is serious legal stuff, not some entertainment spectacular.
and I really don't give a rats *** whether he's "one of the greatest performers" ya da ya da ya....
never a fan of him or his music to be honest, barring one or two of his tunes which I'll sing along to on the radio, which is why I find the hero worship that surrounds him so very, very unsettling. I guess I just don't get it (thankfully).
Me either Jills, I mean I used to be obsessive like that about NKOTB and East 17 but I was 6 and 10 at the times.
I don't know why people worship him, and although I can appreciate he is a pop star I don't think he's any more special than any other pop star (apart from he is up in court for the 2nd time regarding child molestation). And at the end of the day, that is all he is.
And I don't remember much about OJ trial at all, maybe I was drunk. How long ago was that?
natalie, if 1982 is your date of birth, it's no wonder you don't remember the OJ trial. Off the top of my head it would have been around 1994/95 I think. The trial was shown live on tv. I remember the moment the verdict was announced...it was amazing. Unsurprising, yet shocking and sickening at the same time.
well hooray for you luckyboy, but I'd guess that not many 12 year olds would give a rats a** about some old American footballer/mediocre actor up on a murder charge. Most normal 12 year olds would have much better things to do than be watching telly and reading newspapers.
natalie...hope you didn't think I was being patronising about your age.xx
Hero no, wearing white no, I do think he could be innocent to an extent and I believe he is so messed up and child like that he truly believes that having children in his compnay the way he does is right/normal.
I also believe that he will be found guilty and if he is and sent to jail that he will not last a couple of months let alone a couple of years. He set himself up for this by being the way he is, he my not choose it but is strange and seems to act stranger for the attention.
