<<<My familly comes from Birkdale, Lancashire I have lots of not so fond memorys of it. >>>

Birkdale is now Merseyside and has been for about 20yrs.
Ah - but Birkdale would be part of the Palatine of Lancashire which still exists! Anyway, I think you're used to what you're used to, whether it be the North, the South or the Midlands. Everywhere has good and bad parts.

If you have a TV you must have a license. It is impossible to prove you do not use it, and in any case, that is not a defence.

If you do not want to pay for a license, you must remove the television (VHS or digital recorder) from your home. Failure to do so will result in a hefty fine.

There's a thought, if you were tight enough to not pay the fine, as you are tight enough to not pay for a license, they will send you to a big house where you can watch TV and not have to have a license, then maybe you will give us a rest from your tedious Beebaphobia.
Gromit if you are going to gve advice out please give the correct advice

HARPY (23:26 on Mon 26/Jul/10) You can have as many tv's and computers as you like you only need a tv licence if you watch live tv. You can watch bbc i player with NO licence. If you want to check for yourself here is the official tv licence website. Send them an email and you will get a reply within 48 hours.

From an email sent to me from tv licensing >

The use of a television solely as a monitor for video games or watching pre-recorded DVDs or videos does not need a licensing. It is advisable to modify the equipment in such a way that it cannot be used as a television receiver.

So to Gromit and anyone else who has any doubts please contact tv licencing at the website above.

Hope that helps Gromit if you have any other questions please ask
Please omit the letter a from above > a licensing <
SoulRebels if you keep your door shut and don't speak to them there is nothing they can do.
HARPY

If you modify your television by taking the receiver out of it, you are left with a screen or monitor, t is no longer a television and you do not need a license for that. A standard unmodified TV requires a license at the premises it is used at regardless of whether you use it or not. The license is for Receiving Equipment, and a unmodified TV is Receiving Equipment.
Gromit i have contacted tv licensing that part above is from an email sent to me. Please contact them and ask, IT IS THAT SIMPLE
Gromit what channel can an old analogue tv pick up .
i think its disgusting!

there are enough bbc jobs in the south, but they are much more scarce in the north...to ship in a load of southerners to take the jobs is awful

there are thousands of well qualified northerners who woul dlove those jobs and need them!

whats the point of setting up a bbc manchester if you just staff it with southerners?...they could be anywhere!

unbelievable!
coz they think they are the dogs whotsits joko
I can understand southerners not wanting to live up North........I wouldn't like to live down South.

//Just seems you couldn't get out of the car without two dzen net curtains twitching - the road would know you'd arrived before you rang the bell. //

Maybe that was just you Jake. Everyone was going 'Watch out, here comes that miserable s0d again'.
HARPY,

Only the Border and Granada regions have switched off analogue. 80% of the country still have it

Thereafter, a TV that does not have built in Freeview, and the household does not have a separate receiver (freeview or satellite), will not need a licence.
What a load of crap you lot keep making things up. Why do they need to come into your home and search if they have a tv detector van. If you have a tv and a digital set top box that is not connected and being used when they make a visit there is nothing they can do.You don't even have to let them in your home or speak to them. They have no powers they are just salesmen trying to pretend they have some power. They get a commission if they can sell you a licence. The biggest commission they can get is when they get you to give them your bank details and sign up for direct debit.
Gromst do you still think rebel will go to the big house and watch free tv you are having a laff.
