Someone mentioned it would be better to offer a one off payment (I mean, what's he going to do with it, go on holiday!) and save a fortune on court costs. I don't like the situation any more than you but, that's the system.
The perpetrator of the assault should be punished by the authorities,(but applauded by us), but as to compensation - Forget It!. In America they would be astounded by our "mumsy wumsy" way our legal system deals with things like this. He murdered two little girls. His choice. He deserves everything he gets.
TTH, //There must be order in prisons and letting attacks on other prisoners go without any action is not on. OK the man is a monster but if we allow attacks on him without redress then we become as bad as people like him. //
Of course there must be order within prisons, but this isn't redress. Redress would be punishing the perpetrators. This is compensating him for the actions of the perpetrators.
