Troops have no choice about being out there, but civilians have.
Why go out there to help these people, only to be murdered by them?
/// Gen Kemtuz said a third Afghan man, who had been travelling with the group, survived.///
/// 'He told me he was shouting and reciting the holy Koran and saying 'I am Muslim. Don't kill me',' Gen Kemtuz said.///
Typical of these cowardly Afghans.

The robbery explanation from the local police is codswallop. For those here who’ve clearly missed the real reason they were killed, here it is.
//Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid told reporters militants killed the foreigners because they were 'spying for the Americans' and 'preaching Christianity'.//

Gromit always ready to make excuses if the crimes are committed by foreigners, you should feel ashamed of yourself in not condemning this ghastly massacre.
Incidentally there were 10 medical missionaries shot dead, and the excuse being:
/// Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid told reporters militants killed the foreigners because they were 'spying for the Americans' and 'preaching Christianity'.///
I have never heard of anyone being killed for this reason in the UK.
Perhaps it should be you that should be tired of showing your ignorance Gromit.

AOG - these medical staff had been working in Afghanistan for the past 16 years, it was covered very well on the BBC news this morning. They have been working in remote areas and were providing eye care to the local people - they were well experienced, not people just recently going in - and the area where they were murdered is not known as a part of the county where insurgents prevail. Anyone can be mugged and murdered anywhere in the world, this doesn't appear to be of direct relevance to the Army being in Afghanistan at all. They were travelling in a convoy of 4 by 4s in a remote forested part of the county - it could have happened anywhere in the world.

Naomi, I haven't heard that aspect until now , it wasn't mentioned on this morning's news - the report said that the motive appeared to be robbery and they'd all been ambushed and shot. Here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-10902094 (near the bottom) says that the claim of preaching Christianity is vehemently denied - it's a Christian organisation so I suppose it is possible that (rashly) they might have had a Bible with them. I am no sympathiser (as you know) but bear in mind that it wouldn't be the first time that the Taliban have claimed responsibility for something just to gain a political point.

Does it matter how long they had been working in Afghanistan, or that they were well experienced, not people just recently going in .
Or the fact that anyone can be mugged and murdered anywhere in the world, does it really matter that it could have happened anywhere in the world?
The report is about this particular group, murdered in this particular place at this particular time, the rest is irrelevant to this report.
Incidentally why are you making excuses for the Taliban, they admitted they did it, end of.
