Then kill even their own relatives over some percieved "dishonour". Does anyone find this part particularly chilling?
"....However, it is claimed Gul Wazir and his wife thought the match was unsuitable for a number of reasons..."? Err what about their respective nephews/neices? did they consider that they might like a say in whether or to whom they are married? Barbarism pure and simple!

Both the victims and the attackers were muslim. It was a murder that wasn't sanction by any religious leader and is being treated a a crime. To present this as evidence of Islam's wickedness, is like saying all Christians are evil because Dr. Shipman mercilessly slaughtered 300 of his patients.

ahh so that's ok then! They don't usually kill the parents etc I grant you but it's pretty common to kill off the girls for falling in love with someone not on the approved list or heaven forfend not falling in love with the proscribed suitor.

That would be scary...if it were true.

But it's not.

It's...cobblers.

savages too biblebub, I hate all religion makes no odds to me what bunch of fairy tales they adhere to.

It's silly for anyone to deny that within some Islamic societies this practice is accepted - and often expected. It happens. Having said that two wrongs don't make a right, so bibblebub's analogy to the teachings of the bible is irrelevant - unless you consider that these people are still living in the dark ages. Just a thought.

With 1.5 billion muslims and a dozen + variations thereof, many strange things are accepted. There are undoubtedly very extreme forms of the religion. The mistake is tar everyone with the same brush. A wahhabist from Pakistan or Saudi is living in the dark ages compared to a Sunni from secular Turkey.
That doesn't excuse it. Perhaps if those 1.5 billion Muslims you mention actually made concerted efforts to condemn it, the practice would end.

That would be nice, but for all kinds of reasons it will not happen. The Pope was numb struck while those catholics in Germany were gassing 6 million Jews.
As I said, two wrongs don't make a right.
A wahhabis will not listen to a Sunnis Shiites, Kharijites, Sufis or Ahmadiyya anymore that the Pope would take advice to the Rev ian Paisley.
.... demonstrating that their various belief systems have addled their arrogant brains.
