I agree. Benefit cheats are poor people struggling to survive. Tax cheats are generally rich people who won't pay their share.
As you say, I wouldn't want to be holding my breath waiting to see what action Cameron is going to take against Tax dodgers.

In reality neither measure achieves much.
By tax dodgers do you just mean income tax dodgers or do you mean non-payment of TV licence fees and people who pay 'cash in hand' to avoid VAT.

Lord Ashcroft and his ilk could be said to be the worst of the rich tax dodgers. To live some of their time abroad in a tax free haven sunning it up and avoiding paying tax to this country should be classed as criminal.

Oh come on. How many people do jobs "cash in hand" - cleaners, car mechanics, plasterers, builders, waiters etc etc etc.

There are probably hundreds of thousands of people doing work and not paying tax on what they earn, and most of them "poor" (and a lot on the dole as well).

Not true either.

Heard about a guy who was getting £1,000 a month housing benefit (and had been for years) who was living in a historic house worth about £500,000.

They only caught him when he appeared in his local paper asking people to help him trace the history of his house.

Also much benefit fraud is done by organized gangs who "invent" families and children and claim hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Anyway, even if all benefit cheats WERE poor it does not give them the right to fiddle the benefit system and steal from everyone who pays tax.

Three generations in a family who have never worked. They max out all the benefits and seem to have a very comfortable life style. The proposed "bounty hunters" will match publicly available credit information and spending patterns with the benefits received and look for anomalies. Tax authorities have been doing this for years regarding income tax and it sure works.

on the news mentioning this new Cameron initiative it was mentioned that benefit fraud is worth £5b and tax fraud is worth £15b....do the maths.......

I know it will never happen but oh how I wish we were governed by MPs who live in the real world and not in the world where they have to worry where their next million is coming from....dig at Cameron there.....hope you didn't miss it...lol
