Hague Banditry news item.....
It seems this is all based on the fact that they once shared a twin room. So are 2 people of the same sex sharing a room now deemed Gay by default?

I think it was a tactical error to release the statement. Yes, the rumours were circulating on the net, but so what? Over the past few years, there have been loads of Internet based rumours which eventually die out when they run out of steam. By going on record to deny the rumours, he himself has made it a national story.
You cannot blame the papers for reporting the story. Hague himself made it a national story.
Re: privacy...whether he 'experimented' or none of our business. The only element of the story which might be of public interest (rather than being interesting to the public) is whether he used his position to get a job for his lover.
He's denied that, and there is absolutely no proof that he's lying.
