It seems this is all based on the fact that they once shared a twin room. So are 2 people of the same sex sharing a room now deemed Gay by default?

in politics, yes.
LOL @ "banditry", another one that made me laugh was "poovery".
ppsst keep it quiet but a friend of mine who works at the house of commons told me 100% that haguey and seb coe have been very very close if you know what i mean!!for years
I think this is a classic 'hounding' by the media...disgusting!
Things have come to a pretty pass when a chap can't save his political party some money by sharing a room with a colleague without attracting innuendo and character assassination.
I think he should just come clean and say ...

"I'm not gay, I just wanted to see what it was like."

Nobody would care.
I HATE SEBASTIAN COE !!!
(quote from "The Day Today")
I can just imagine 'Lord Coe of Ranmore' going slappy slappy on the giant foetus's head as he goes down on him LOL
quite right, sandyRoe, the same people would have been moaning about overspending if he'd booked two rooms instead of one.
Hague was niaive the extreme to share a room with anyone other than his wife - and he is making it worse by protesting. Least said, soonest mended, and for heaven sake William, a little forethought will save this happening again.
You're not a fan of Hague then, Answerprancer?
isn't there forums for this kind of thing AP?
It's pathetic...leave the poor bloke alone.
i wonder if they lifted out the bedside cabinet and pushed the beds together.

come on we've all done that haven't we... ?
i bet theres lots of mps out there shaking in their pink bowler hats now, hoping to remain undetected
No, no, no, no - you're not thinking about the whole story.

Hague already have two senior special advisors. He then took on a third, who had recently graduated from university (studied History I believe), when his department and all others were looking at cutbacks.

And he shared a room with him with him on the Conservative election tour.

It's not the fact that he shared a room with him, it's THAT fact coupled with the rumours which have floated around for YEARS (I'd heard and dismissed the Seb Coe one ages back) plus the inappropriateness of the hiring which caused these rumours to finally surface.

Whether he's a breeder or a bandit is not a media-led story. It's come from the net!
Besides his wife....who really cares?
sp1814, I think the net counts as part of the media these days, though a rather unregulated part.

I don't know how many advisers a man needs, however cute they may be. If Blair had had just one who told him not to start wars, that would have been money well spent.
yeh sp1814, the main problem is that hague is still high profile, so its easy pickings, plus it sells more tabloid trash papers
Do the descriptions ...

"bandit"

"burglar"

"ferret"

"packer"

... etc, suggest disapproval ? or affection ?
you mean in the real world or in Brighton?
