Should female criminals be treated more lenient than men?

Judges have been told: 'be more lenient to women criminals' according to the Equal Treatment Bench Book, published by the Judicial Studies Board (JSB).

How on earth they can call this publication 'The Equal Treatment Bench Book' when it is asking for women to be treated differently from men.

It would seem their ever increasing claim for equality is beginning to fall around their ears.

Nothing wrong with equality I hasten to add, but once granted, that is what they must accept, Equality.

But life isn't the same for both genders. It should be but women are still worse off than men, in general.

Parental responsibilities is a huge factor. Putting the kids in to care is not always ideal.

Personally I think jails should be reserved for violent criminals. If women are charged with violent offences they should deserve the same punishment. However men's testosterone means they will always be in the majority.

White collar crimes should all be treated the same for both sexes although I suppose the law takes into account the children that have to be looked after.

Could this be the reason that women have more chance of getting a job than men?

if you think it's factually incorrect, please post a link to a better source of information; I don't have one. That seems about the European norm, as far as I know, but it makes a mockery of any idea that women have anything like equality.
