I've been on my holidays for a fortnight and though it was great, it is good to be home. I was in Turkey and they are very patriotic and proud of their nation and its origin.
But you do notice on returning everyone seems very down on Britain, and as you say, sIag it off all the time. They should snap out of it, Britain has so much going for it, and is better than most places to live.

Most people who would like to move abroad don't do it because they are afraid of the unknown. The most common excuse I hear is ' would love to move to france/ spain/cyprus/greece/italy/portugal..but there's the grand children. They would probably see the grandchildren more often if they lived somewhere nice and would have them all summer holiday until they were glad to see the back of them.
Absolutely Sqad,I have lost count of the number of people who have moved or not moved house to be near somebody and within a couple of years that somebody has either died, emmigrated, or gone to the other end of the country. I know of a couple who gave up their council house in suffolk to live in a caravan near their daughter in hampshire only for her to move to the channel islands. They had left their friends and lost their house for no benefit.
My Aunt and her husband retired to Australia to be with his son in Sydney and then his son moved to Perth!!
I would never move to be near my child or any grandchildren I might have in the future (unlikely). It's just not fair and besides that I don't want to be a babysitter or childminder.
I will stick in the UK, I like the changing seasons and the British countryside and I speak the language quite well. I wouldn't mind a second home on the Algarve though, but am not rich enough!!
I certainly don't hate it here generally but there are some things I hate about it.
