How on earth have these thuggish savages been allowed to walk free?

Should there now be an appeal on behalf of the victim, against the leniency of their sentence, and if the appeal is won , then the Judge should be struck off.?

/// Judge Geake said he had taken into account the attackers’ ages, remorse and the fact they had pleaded guilty.///

All the more reason for a stiff sentence, they were all over 18, and they themselves admitted guilt, so no danger that they had got the wrong men.

Regarding remorse, they should have their evil deeds, hanging over them for the rest of their lives.

this is horrible! how they were able to walk free ill never know. the judge should be ashamed.
Actually AOG I agree with you for change- something far harsher needed to be handed out on this occasion- because in effect they've got away with a very long, nasty, unprovoked attack on someone particularly vulnerable without any serious sanctions. You'd better hope they haven't gone away with the idea that they can get away with anything...
Absurd. Remorse? Every defendant who's facing being banged up feels sorry ! This was not one individual who lost his temper and used one punch too many, but a clearly premeditated mob handed abh. One for the CPS to appeal.

Not often I agree with AOG, either, but I do on this occasion.
Why are these mindless thugs all belong to the skinhead club. Their brains that are peeping out from below must be seriously deranged.

Judges do make some serious mistakes in sentencing you would think they are approaching senility if not already there.
It is possible, just possible, that the remorse of these three thugs is genuine and that they are thoroughly ashamed of their cruel and heartless conduct. I would like to think so.
I doubt it Mike. If they were capable of feeling guilt or remorse, those feelings would surely have kicked in at some point over the 3 day period they were torturing the victim. It wasn't exactly a 'moment of madness' was it.

A disgraceful and indefensible sentence. Surely these are exactly the kind of people prisons were built for in the first place?
It's like a plea bargain - if you admit guilt and express remorse (however insincerely and unbelievably) you get a lighter sentence in reward for the fact that you've saved the court a bit of time and money.
Nothing to do with justice of course.
Don't worry AOG, all the apologists for savage scum will be along in a minute to explain this to you.

In the mean time I cannot understand how they avoided jail, what planet do our judges inhabit? I watched "Traffic cops" the other day and a motorcyclist got 3 months for rear wheel sliding. Is that wors than what this subhuman slime did?

Jake, Gromit, Steve.5, Answerprancer et el. Perhaps you can explain!!
I am sure that the sentence will be appealed, and hopefully increased - as is appropriate.

Not for the first time, a judge has woefully misjudged (no pun intended) the seriousness of this offence, and the need for the people involved, and in the wider community - to see justice done.
I read this story online yesterday and it made me cry. I have a son who has Aspergers syndrome and it is truly frightening that there are certain scumbags around that would treat someone so badly just because of the condition.
Anybody who has,or knows somebody who has a child who is autistic, must be totally
disgusted with this sentence.
It is little wonder that victims, parents etc, often take the vigilante approach and who can blame them.
Surely the time has come for the correct sentences to be handed down, whatever any
mitigating circumstances.
Nothing on this Earth can condone this behaviour.
R1, nothing from the resident liberal hand wringers yet !

Wonder why? Perhaps this is even to OTT for them

Thsi Judge is a disgace. He should be struck off.
perhaps YMB but not so OTT that they'd actually agree with the outrage!
I mean the outrage that any normal person would feel at this.
My son is Autustic and is 20 years old.

He has few friends and does not get out much, but he has recently enjoyed going into a few pubs and having a quiet pint.

A few months ago some adults (who he did not know) thought it would be funny to keep buying him shots of spirits until he was totally drunk.

He came home and was violently sick all evening.

I am afraid there are people around who think this sort of thing is funny.

I agree though that the thugs in this case did far worse and DID deserve a prison sentence, even just a month to teach them a lesson. I wonder what the judge would have thought if this had happened to his son or wife.

I think that the 'resident liberal hand wringers' would have increased their interest in this case, had the three savages been black, and I had dared to enter the news item.

They tend not to get angry about this type of crime R1. However, If the poor s0d had managed to fight back and injure one of the perpetrators, or god forbid escaped the attack by fleeing in his car at 35mph in a 30mph zone, you can bet there'd be some strongly worded letters flying out to the guardian pretty sharpish.
