Why are Iran and the mad Mullahs's so annoyed at this?

They keep telling us that Islam is the way, this is a pretty standard punishment so really this is an advertisement for Islam, they should be delighted.

Stonings are thankfully rare in Iran but they represent the ugly tip of a very large iceberg.
And presumably they feel that the film is deliberately designed to stir up trouble (which I think it is)
and that it gives the impression that stoning is commonplace.
Anyway Geezer - I thought you were pro death penalty?
Is it stoning you object to? or the fact that adultery is punishable by death? or that the crime is one-sided against women?
Or is it just that you have a real bee in your bonet about the "religion of peace" as you call it and associate it with Islam?

Actually Mrs T has a very good point. If they think they are meting out just punishment, why are they annoyed? To say stonings are rare excuses the barbarity of it. It's rather like saying not all Muslim women are subjugated and treated as second class citizens. Well, it doesn't affect everyone, so that's all right then.
dunno what's occuring on planet jake but regardless of anyones view on capital punishement I think stoning is a bit out of order for "adultery", especially as the islamic iterpretation of adultery seems to encompass things that we would not consider adultery. They also get stoned for the crime of being raped, work that one out!
Public stonings for adultery are rare in Iran because usually the woman's male relatives kill her for the honour of the family. Much better to quietly murder her than suffer the shame of having her transgression made public.
Rape is always considered the woman's fault because she should not have placed herself in a situation where it could happen. The man is not to blame because his natural instincts were incited by the immodest behaviour of the woman.
Such is the nature of the primitive misogynist philosophy that is Islam.
