I think the fact that she felt she had to resign from a job she'd been in for 27 years, the hate mail, the death threats and the fact that she might be recognised every time she leave the house is punishment enough.

So yeah...A few hundred quid plus costs...is fair in my opinion..
I'd have prefered it i she'd been shoved in a bin for several hours as well.
...So why did she do it then , ummmm?

Why you asking me? I don't know....
Well, I thought that the owners of the binned cat acted with restraint and decorum, as if that had been one of our three cats, I would have "strung her up" vigilante style.

The grandchildren....fine..bin them, but not the cats.

"why did she do it" - well in her own word she doesn't know, an abberation perhaps, she asks herself that question each day apparently. It was out of order but I think she's been harshly punished mainly indirectly.
The court punishment was just...the public punishment is not.

Like Sqad though....If she'd done it to my cat she's be a very sorry woman...
I think she's been too harshly punished... The kind of public mauling she's had is not proportionate to the crime she committed, frankly, from what some people have written/said about her, you'd think she was the next Myra Hindley.
she should of done community service as well as emptying wheelie bins on bin day also pooper scooping at her local moggie sanctuary !!!
Myra got locked up for life....the baying crowd will be in uproar over the £250 fine.

onetoomany...LOL
We all love cats (okay, me not so much) and the woman was stupid, and unkind.

But ... she's been penalised.

The problem is, there are lots of people out there being very cruel to lots of animals. Is it a mistake to divert all our attention towards this woman, who will, for sure, never be unkind to another animal?

All those people out there who are being horrid to animals must be delighted that so much time and resources are being targeted at this woman, and taking the pressure off them a bit.

I think she had the right idea. Stick all cats in bins, and give this woman a knighthood!!!

a week after this incident there was a report of a pikey drowning puppies, that story seems to have died a death.
