Just to clarify an important point - being 'depressed' and 'having depression' are very very different indeed - the first is part of the human condition, the second is a serious and potentially fatal psychiatric illness.
Again, apologies for the confusion.

// ludwig....."why do people do bizarre things?" you ask. //
I didn't sqad. I said that mental illness can cause people to do strange things and It's difficult to understand why she'd do such a bizarre thing if she was thinking clearly.
// One doesn't have to be depressed to do bizarre things //
Agreed, but again - I didn't say that. I'm just saying that I find it plausible that if she was depressed then it may have affected her actions.
Having said that, I've just read through geezer's link and the only mention of depression is her saying that she's been suffering from it, so we don't know if there was an actual diagnosis or whether it was made before or after the incident or anything else about it - so yep, could just be a nasty person fishing around for ways to excuse her nasty behaviour.
