New proposed benefit system .
I thought the remarks made by those women on the sink estate summed up the attitude of many of those living on benefits . They said why should we work for £250 a week when we can get £200 on benefit . All that work for a lousy.£50 quid and we wouldn't be able to go to our afternoon Bingo.
When I was a lad people were ashamed to be living on charity nowadays it's considered their right.

Being unemployed is more than just claiming for benefits. Many of the long term unemployed refuse work because of an attitude problem with employers or companies. Also if you have spent years of your life gaining qualifications and experience why should you swap it for some menial job far below your station. If you worked in IT and you saw companies recruiting staff from India doing your job for less money why should you suffer.

Well ummmmm I don't know where you live but I have heard similar comments from families living within a few hundred yards and of where I live and its on a nice estate and there is no shortage of work in my area .
Add that to the fact that almost a million have been unemployed for more than ten years I am not surprised to hear such remarks.
Isn't that the whole point of the review that so many people don't want to work if they don't have to.
Not where you live of course .!

Actually, I think modeller is right to say at one time people would have been ashamed to live on charity. My parents weren't well off by any stretch of the imagination, but they worked, they did the best they could for their children, and they would never have asked anyone for anything. They didn't have much but they had their pride.
the truth here . Why restrict youself to laboures . If you really want a unskilled job you can find it. Full time , part time, flexible , permanent , temporary . However if you want a job as Father Christmas in July you may be disappointed.
Howver I restricted it to labouring as that is the limit of your CV so I tried London as an example. It's my nearest big town .There seems to be plenty of work there .

. I would suggest this applies to most big towns .
