Can we survive?

Just when you thought how are we going to manage with all the cuts, your Government is dishing out another £37m of your money to aid overseas farmers on climate change.
When are we to receive any money from overseas, to aid the changes in this country, climate or otherwise?
Scuba rice eh?, which apparently can survive underwater for two weeks, I don't know how long we can survive, but I do know we are sinking fast.

/// I'll leave you and aog to it.///
Don't let that bigoted, racist, smug and self opinionated individual, make his usual get-out excuses to cover up, for that huge chip he has on his shoulders.
It is good that you are prepared to criticise his over generalisations of some of our white elderly, ( I wonder why he didn't include his own)? it is only a pity that others are not brave enough to join you in your condemnations towards him.
Is it individuals such as sp1814 that do little to foster good relationships between the different races in this country,.Is it any wonder that it is those elderly that rile the day that sp's fore-bearers ever stepped off the Empire Windrush.

wow - a memory to savour. 6w sail to Singapore when I was little, thru choppy seas while Windy dipped & climbed mountainous waves. I tried to retrieve my hair ribbon blown on guard-rail while the sea drowned the top deck. I was astride a funnel, hanging on for dear life till my bruv dragged me in :)

/// Luck had NOTHING to do with it. You work hard, and you enjoy te rewards of that hard work.///
Especially if you get a little help from "positive discrimination" measures.
/// Yes...those who are pleading poverty now are the very same people who brought the country to it's knees when I was a nipper.///
Do they include those of your own race also?
/// Rubbish. They have relatives ///
I notice that you are thick enough to believe there are no pensioners who are completely on their own, with no family whatsoever.
/// It's because the extended family is still strong amongst practically ALL ethnic minorities ///
It is sad that in most cases, the Afro-Caribbean family comprises mainly of a single woman and her children, funded by government hand-outs, just as those elderly scroungers are, that you are happy to belittle.
/// By the way - the vast amount of elderly scroungers didn't actually fight during the second world war. Only those over 65 did. ///
Now let's get this right "only pensioners over 65 fought in WW2". That would make a 65 year old just being born at the end of the war (1945), so no he didn't. Now lets see, a guy born at the very beginning (1939) he would now be only 71, so who was old enough? anyone 83 or older.
/// The vast number of elderly pensioners now, have done nothing to deserve special treatment. All they've done, is grow old. ///
Haven't you heard of RESPECT FOR THE ELDERLY? No perhaps not.

<<RESPECT FOR THE ELDERLY?>>
Why would someone warrant respect simply for managing to grow old. Is that in itself a worthy achievement?
By your argument old git, Gary Glitter is now due respect because he is an OAP approaching his 67th birthday. I don't think so - his behaviour and attitudes to children over ride anything else.
I know and respect several elderly people. My next door neighbour was a decoder at Bletchley and she is a wonderful intelligent woman. The respect has nothing to do with her age which she herself dismisses as an irrelevance.
It is a fact that nasty, ignorant, harmful people grow old too - so the respect continues to need to be earned not granted like a bus pass.

Instead of trying to side-step the issue with talk about Garry Glitter< why don't you admit you know full well what I am talking about.
Of course one doesn't respect a person that doesn't deserve respect, no matter what age they may be.
But a general safe rule is to respect your parents, unless of course you haven't had the privilege of good parents, and respect other elderly people, by helping them out in any way, and standing so as to let them sit down etc.

I would if I thought you knew what you are talking about :-)
Seriously, GG isn't a side-step, it is an extreme illustration of the simple fact that a fair proportion of elderly people aren't worthy of respect - and probably weren't before they were elderly.
I'm sorry to say, in my experience, some of the rudest, disrespectful people one comes across on the street or in the shops, are elderly people and their behaviour is put to shame by the politeness of the schoolchildren they barge out of the way!

Seriously - that site discrimination remark is brilliant, it shows you up to be the moron that I always thought you are.
What kind of idiot would troop that out?
Why are you being an idiot AOG?
Is it jealousy? Do yu honestly think that those who hVe done better than you, who have found love and respect from a partner and peers is merely lucky?
Why do you think luck passed you by?
I think I already know, but would be happy to hear one of your whacked out theories?
(By the way - this conversation proves to me why so many people my age can't abide being around old people - so you don't need to answer my question about why the elderly Fe left to freeze alone in their flats ).

I dont have the time to read all of the comments on here but the question sparked interest so i thought i'd see where we had gotten to before responding. How on earth did this go from a question about the state of our economy to a slanging match!??!
AOG - sinking fast - on our way to needing a massive hand out. I sincerely hope not but i suspect so.....

No wonder sp is fed up with old git's nonsense.
i have just read an aog post directed at him from yesterday:
<<With your constant slagging off of Britain, why do you put up with us, and yet continue to enjoy everything that Britain can give you.
Why don't you go to Africa and work towards giving them some of what you enjoy? >>
This is nothing more than 'Go back to where you came from!'
Disgraceful. That sort of pondlife comment brings shame on those of us who are proud of the good things about Britain and its people.
Please don't pollute the good British air longer than you have to.

AOG spends so much of his time berating blacks and Asians, I thought it was about time that someone from his own demographic heard some home truths - that the Brits can't stand pensioners, because some of them are lazy, fag-smoking, bigoted, bingo-addicted, stink factories who should be grateful for every penny they get off of hard working second generation immigrants like me.
The ungrateful scroungers,

SP - thanks for the clarification. Also, the use of the word 'some' goes a long way but the generalisation about brits and pensioners is a little harsh. I love old people and I'm a brit (as are you, second generation immagrant or not)!
Was just wondering how we managed to get so far removed from the question but I guess that was a silly question give that I've seen how some of AOGs threads have gone in the past!
Still all sounds a bit harsh though!
Thanks for the info Zeuhl - hadnt seen yesterday's threads. Its all getting a bit personal for my liking....
