Like him or loath him, agree or disagree on who should receive honours.

But the question I wish to put is, 'Why hasn't Bruce Forsyth ever been made a Sir?

I always (even when he couldn't get himself arrested to get on the TV) thought that BM was a true star...........as was the late great Roy Castle !

Clever man Bob Monkhouse Craft. But he wasn't multi talented. Just a brilliant comedien and compere in my opinion. A very clever man too. However, he was a total sleaze ball!! He got less slimey with age though.

I don't think Bob Monkhouse and Brucie are comparable at all in fact.

Maybe the Queen simply doesn't like him...I never have either. I did think he was good on the Generation game until some friends of friends went on it and told us about him.

Well perhaps it was more 60's then JTH. His style of entertaining is just not popular any more. Perhaps it is with memories of the 60's and Sunday Night at the London Palladium that have made me feel the way I do. He was extremely popular.

Why not? You could have different categories of knight/damehood couldn't you:

1: The Court Jesters: Sir Ken Dodd, Sir Ronnie Corbett, Sir Rory Bremner, Sir Peter Kaye, Sir Joe Pasquale.
2: The Gay Hussars: Dame Dale Winton, Dame Julian Clary, Dame Alan Carr, Dame Graham Norton, Dame Peter Mandelson.
3: Order of the Garter: Dame Liz Hurley, Dame Katie Price, Dame Posh Spice, Dame Cheryl Cole, Dame Alesha Dixon.
4: Knights Bachelor: Sir Cliff Richard, Sir Louis Walsh, Sir Simon Cowell, Sir Bruno Tognioni, Sir Craig Revell-Horwood.

The last time I found Bruce Forsythe entertaining was in the mid 80s. I have only ever briefly seen him on Strictly Come Dancing and found him completely embarrassing...desperate even.

However, that's just my personal taste. I cannot see why he hasn't been knighted. It literally makes no sense to me...and it's now got to appoint where it looks like some kind of establishment rebuff.

Out of all the entertainers of his generation, he's done more (both as a performer and a behind he scenes charity-supporter) to deserve ennoblement.

Cannot bear to watch him, but he absolutely SHOULD be Sir Bruce,

However, in saying that - I DO believe that there are equally deserving people. Victoria Wood should be a dame, and so should Julie Walters and Joanna Lumley.

And Alan Bennett should be knighted.

And they should take away Lord Sugar's title...just to p*ss him off.

The answer to your Question seems to be - no-one knows.

I am old enough to remember BF in the sixties and seventies, and he was a fabulous entertainer, working live TV audiences with ease and skill.

I do think he should bow out gracefully now though - or at least get a new script writer!

Sorry you don't approve of Sir Mick - I for one am an ardent fan. His massive talent as an innovative writer and performer is matched only by his peerless ability to retain the confidence and approval of the upper classes, while the middle and lower continue to come and see him perform.

A class act in all ways - and lest we forget, Keith Richards - who knows of what he speaks. rates Mick as one of the finest white blues harmonica players in the world.

Once upon a time people received Knighthoods in recognition of selfless works for the country or charitable causes, or so I believe.This honour has, in my opinion become somewhat devalued and for a long time many people have received this accolade for reasons known only to them and their sponsor.Purely on the basis of evenhandedness I feel Bruce should get one but I do think the time has come to get rid of the whole system.
If Mick Jagger could get one for longevity( I don't think he sings at all well!) why not Bruce?

nonomaybe - I think you'll find Sir mick has got one for services to exports among other things - the Stones have sold millions of albums and singles worldwide, plus he does a load for charridee - but of course, he doesn't like to talk about it!
