Like him or loath him, agree or disagree on who should receive honours.

But the question I wish to put is, 'Why hasn't Bruce Forsyth ever been made a Sir?

I think he himself once said the establishment don`t seem to award honours to comedians very often. They seem to be forgotten while people like Mick Jagger and Paul Smith are knighted for making a lot of money just doing their job
Why on earth would anyone want one anyway...?
I still don't know why Sir David Attenborough hasn't been made a Lord like his brother.
I have yet to speak to anyone who finds that Brucie warrants the tag of 'entertainer'.
I don't think Mick Jagger and Brucie can be compared. There are/were loads of Brucie types. Mick Jagger is/was pretty unique..imo
I have to say that Brucie is way past his best and those that are younger than you or I anotheroldgit will not remember how versatile and brilliant he was in his younger days. A brilliant dancer, pianist, singer and all round entertainer. In my mind he should have been made a 'sir' many years ago for his services to television and entertainment. I don't know why he hasn't so can't answer your question, but would say he is very deserving of a knighthood. There are many that are far less worthy.

Thanks for that craft.
Don't think he's particularly deserving but then I don't think he's particularly undeserving either, he's certainly been around a long time. I agree with the sentiments about David Attenborough though, I think he's fabulous.
Maybe the Queen doesn't think it'll be nice to see him....
Could he be a secret republican? Maybe he's had the offer and turned it down.
She could play her cards right.......

/// Mick Jagger is/was pretty unique ///.

In my opinion he is disgusting.
JTH. I remember him from way way back in the late fifties early sixties and he was brilliant. Right through the sixties, seventies and early eighties he was incredible. The trouble is, as I said, people now don't know just how talented he was and how very popular he was then.

Disagree there were not loads of Brucie types at all. In fact, apart from Roy Castle, I can't think of any.

Agree with you Lottie.
> Mick Jagger is/was pretty unique

LOL! Superb!
Mick disgusting! Why?? I have always liked Mick and love the Stones. However, worthy of being knighted - no!! And as for Elton John and Paul McCartney................. I will bite my tongue...............
I've been a discerning viewer since the early 1970's..............and I haven't discerned him entertaining me or mine in any time since then, I'm afraid, Lofty.
You see it's just opinion Lottie 'cos I watched him at the same times as you and I always thought he was rubbish.....I always preferred Bob Monkhouse.
Glad we agree about Brucie AOG. We will have to agree to disagree about Sir Mick.
