Is it right for the press to publish photos of Jo's "alleged"killers

Before it goes to Trial,
What happened to innocent until proven otherwise?
The Dutch guy who was arrested yesterday 'allegedly' in connection with Jo's murder, has his face splashed all over the papers as did the Landlord of where she lived
Has the press over stepped the mark?

I remember when Matthew Kelly was accused of something (messing with kids I think). He was plastered all over the news and it turned out he was innocent. The poor guy never worked again.

That's exactly what I said! I don't think names or photos should be released until someone is found guilty.

I agree with Bobbi but can it be prevented? If someone go's to a friend or whomever and obtains the picture.

Is there a law to stop it.

Matthew Kelly does a lot of stage acting now squarebear has won tons of awards as well so i think hes doing OK.
I don't think its a case of innocent till proven guilty in this country more like
guilty till proven innocent

Its not right bit its not illegal.However I note futher to another thread yesterday which I posted on that ITV are now not reporting live from the Haque and made no mention of his name on News earlier - they were last night though.

the only legal recourse is contempt of court. but the media are smarty pants at this and very savvy, or at least willing to send some lawyers to a tribunal and fork out a few thousand quid.

the courts would have to decide that the media/organisation has 'deliberately' prejudiced the outcome of a case. at this juncture they are just reporting that someone has been arrested and questioned, and they have given the name+some holiday snaps. its wrong of course, but they haven't really broken the law.

Yeah this guy got his character last night as well -the media rightly have today reigned in.Wonder how many other 'pen' pictures they have up their sleeve in case anyone else is a suspect? They were reporting from the Haque pdq last night -wonder if they have an OB in Sheffield on standby? Its a nonsence but hey we all watch it and comment on it !
