Is it right for the press to publish photos of Jo's "alleged"killers
Before it goes to Trial,
What happened to innocent until proven otherwise?
The Dutch guy who was arrested yesterday 'allegedly' in connection with Jo's murder, has his face splashed all over the papers as did the Landlord of where she lived
Has the press over stepped the mark?

Why is this?
In rape cases that have proven the accused had not committed the crime, because the woman had lied.
The man will still be identified, but the woman will not be, this is totally unfair, it is the woman who is the criminal.
The innocent man is for the rest of his life pointed at, as that bloke who was once accused of rape (mud sticks).

Playing devils advocate here - if his picture is printed, it may prompt other women to come forward who have previously been attacked, but haven't been able to provide a clear description. For example, say if an accused person left DNA evidence at a crime, but was never caught, the publication of his picture may prompt a reinvestigation of an outstanding case, and lead to it being finally resolved.
Generally speaking, murder isn't the first step on the ladder - it's normally the last step after assault, battery, rape etc.

This is a wide spread problem with our system, essentailly throw enough mud and some sticks innocence or guilt is irrelevant. I personally believe that the press should not be allowed to identify suspects at all. Only the tried and convicted.
It's fundementally flawed when an innocent persons life can be so affected.

No, it is never right, and I'm absolutely mystified as to why they are indeed allowed to do so without sanction? Freedom of the Press? No, ripping the butt out of it, more like.
But it's only done because of the insatiable lust by so many to find out the business of other people. What if the guy's either innocent, or found not guilty if it went as far as Court? I can just hear the conspiracy merchants: "No smoke without fire."
Let's hope it never happens to you or yours - to whom it concerns.

That certainly was the implication on Loose Women has to be said.It may not be fair but the flipside was that it may encourage others to come forward when they see a picture, which the publication of is not a crime, unless theres and injunction.
I sometimes suspect that the Police work hand in glove with the Media -they grease each others hands in effect. The police wont say they they are the 'friend' who tipped the Media off and the Media wont say that the Police were the 'friend'.How else are the Police going to get extra info if 'details' arent published -would be naive to think otherwise.
