I don't see how the landlord can sue. They didn't print any lies about him as far as I'm aware. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and that's what the press reported.

Have to say its not pleasant to see your name (or all but your name) all over the papers with lies -been a victim and you want to bay for blood and I did and even went to a solicitor but if the the info has been released throught the 'court' system then I/You dont have a leg to stand on-public domain -so as much as anyone moan laments about anything legal if its gone through the courts anyone can and will find out about it.
I have phoned about my paedo neighbour who is out on appeal and was given chapter and verse (quite right as it happens as he challenged my daughter and I just 2wks ago in an underground car park but he came off worse)
