So now the EU wants to tell the insurers how to charge. Have they no idea that insurance is about risk pure and simple?

insurers should certainly be regulated, otherwise theyll only insure young and healthy people, older drivers, houses on hilltops and so forth. It's in society's interests that everyone be insured (as for instance with cars); it's not in the interests of insurance companies, however.

You can make what you will about actuary statistics but why should a good male driver subsidise a bad female driver?
Je suis en accord, mais il ya une position incorrigible pour bien expliquer pendant les jours prochains.
In case anyone hasn't seen the news and isn't sure what this is about, the EU has decided that there should be no discrimination between male and female. Insurers will apparently up the prices for women.
Course the spin doesn't hurt, but there's nothing to say that the insurers can't drop the price of the male policy, as they should, OR meet half way and slightl drop one price and slightly raise another. Not that the tabloids would ever print that.

that's just the point rov, that's not happening, the risk is calculated and it is a fact that ladies cost less, end of! Apparently the number of claims for women is higher but the amount per claim is much lower so in total they cost a lot less. With this new ruling they will be subsidising men. I fact they'll probably just raise the premiums for women and take the extra cash.
You are right of course R1 but the only accident I have ever been involved in was a young girl ran into the back of me when I stopped at traffic lights.
