No large company, be it Sky or a fashion house, can have even the most tenuous link to anything remotely discriminatory. whether you agree with this fact or not, it's the world we live in.
However, in this case, the term 'remotely discriminatory' hardly applies.
I've watched the video of his little rant, and I hope that his career does 'a Mel Gibson'.
It's tempting to say 'good riddance to bad rubbish', but unfortunately, the man is a bit of a genius, so it's a shame that he's scuppered his career in such an unnecessary way.
Also, someone should point out to him that the Nazis wouldnt have exactly smiled on him as an out gay man.
Fashion (by it's very nature) is a fickle business. Remember when Kate Moss was pictured snorting a certain White powder? she was dropped like a hot brick by Burberry etc.
However, a year later after the fuss had died down, she was back with them on a bigger contract AND picked up a role designing for Philip Green's empire.
It is the same with footballers. It doesn't seem to matter what they do. If they get 'sacked' by one club they always seem to find someone else who will employ them. I expect it will be the same with Galliano.
lets not forget that 'isms' are a sliding scale; at the bottom are fats and gingers and at the top are Jews. So sacred are they its not racism is 'anti-semitism' 2 posts down from the OP and Nazis are mentioned. Predictable.
The reason I mentioned the Nazis is because Mr Galliano said he admired them in his rant, and that was ironic, because he's gay, and therefore would've been treated with the same contempt by the Nazis as Jews were.
Dior also likes to promote a restrained upmarket image... still he will get work with another big house soon enough
perhaps he can atone with a nice pink triangle range...... or did he forget the number of lesbian and gay people who were slaughtered as 'unfit for society' etc (still only the gay men were classed as homosexual lesbians were lumped in with the political dissidents and other undesirables.... hence out black triangle....)
That really was a flounce. I would imagine that his 'genius' will not be withheld from the fashion world for long. Naomi Campbell is a nasty scheming b*tch but she still works.
