Because I have too much time on my hands I have decided that I am going to go out of my way to save money this year. I am not going to go round all the shops buying different stuff in each one - I am going to actively seek coupons, etc. I am going to keep a list over the year and it will include any money I get refunded for valid complaints to businesses. Today I saved 50% on my total bill at a Hungry Horse pub by joining some free monthly draw thing last time I was in there (ok, I didn't strictly save the money as I had to spend the other 50% - I'm not hard up, just bored and penny pinching).

Good idea, sher - there are coupon sites you can sign up too. Look also at sites like Wowcher - I got a very good deal on OH's Christmas present this year by making use of a massive Wowcher discount.
'' because I have too much time on my hands '' with 5 children ? :)

Anne - it's easy peasy, organisation is the key and the things are six in March, they're hardly babies. It was a different matter when they were tiny and the others were so young.
actually, I agree routine is the answer, 2 or 5 children,
It is about organisation. My partner is good a that, though where we will store a year's supply of detergent has yet to be made clear.

I am doing my bit. I am cutting back on horseradish.
Yayyyyy Mrs Coupon Queen to be. Well done that lass.

I'm not going to bulk buy but I am going to actively seek out deals on stuff I already buy - already saved/didn't spend £37.61 today.
I think thats an excellent idea.Don't forget to pass on any tips you have so that we can all join in.
Can I ask are ALL your children six in March or will you have a sixth child in March?

I too intend to get my finances straight in 2015 starting by charging son no2 rent
Fred, be careful not to overdo it.

Hi ric.ror - the 'twins' (hate the term with a passion) will be six in March, by then the others will be 13, 10 & 8.

Nearly choked at the thought of a sixth child, was originally aiming for four.
I'm doing quite well without trying, Sherr......I've had a voucher from Homebase to help me celebrate my first Christmas in my new home...it's my third.
And an email tonight from a local hotel offering me free drinks to celebrate my January birthday....my birthday is May....mind you the staff are going to sing Happy Birthday so I might give it a miss.....☺
G, giving free drinks a miss,? :)

Hey I'll have have them, gness, don't want the singing though.
I'd sooner take the pledge than have the staff singing Happy Birthday and producing a bloody cake with a fireman on standby for all the candles...☺
Mind you....having said that....a fireman.....in uniform....Hmmm I feel a rethink coming on.....☻
fireman/free drinks, whats to rethink ?
Okay...I'll do it but only to support Sherr in her money saving venture you understand......☺
Sigh
