We are thinking of setting up our organisation as a charity but we are hearing conflicting information about the financial side of things. Before we go any further can anyone tell us if we need to have a minimum "turnover" pa please. On one hand we've been told 5K and on the other we've been told its not one of the criteria at all. So before we take it any further - does anyone know out there please!!

It is one of the criteria:

Registering a Charity
Please note. If you are thinking about registering a charity from 23 April 2007 it will only have to be registered if its annual income is over, or expected to be over, 5,000. It is not our policy to register charities that do not meet this minimum .

See this website for all the info.
Sorry, that was meant to sat that you only have to register your charity if you have an income of more than 5k pa, you can still be charity with less, you just don;t need to register.
