This morning on my daily commute to college, I had found out that the fare had gone up over the weekend. Because i only had the amount that i had used before, the bus driver was patronising me into giving the extra 10p. Because he wouldnnt pitch the '10p' i had to use the 10p off my money that i would use to get home. I then felt like a tramp when i asked my friends if any of them have 20p they can lend me.
The buses are always late, theres only one an hour to where i live, and the drivers i have experienced are so in-polite.
Was he being inpolite, should i complain to the superiors?
Is it right that he was patronising?

If you go out with just the exact fare then that is pretty dumb. What happens if you find yourself in a situation where you need money?

Why should he let you off with the extra 10p? I certainly wouldn't. All the other people had to pay it. The fact that there is only 1 an hour is beside the point. You need to plan your journey around the bus times. We only have 3 trains to Leeds each day but I don't expect a cut down price when I use one.
pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease dont tell me u only carry bus money!!!!!! ppppppppppppppppppleeeeeeeeeeeeease go away!!!!! why complain? costs go up on everything at the moment, its your fault for not carrying spare emergency money, i always have a 1 just in case!!!

wot u studying? brain surgery............

and to your last question, yes!!! hes only doing his job
what do you mean by patronising you into giving him the 10p. Youre lucky he didnt just throw you off for not paying arent you.

as others have suggested, always carry some spare change about just incase
Get a bike, not only will you save money, you'll also get fit and it's exciting risking your life everyday to get to college/work/job centre.

Let me explain it a bit more. He didnt say he would pay thats not what i mean't, but couldnt he of just let me off this once and i would learn from it?
No of course not otherwise everyone would do that. You're in the real world now.
are you for real

i dont understand what pitch the 10p means , is it a local term
no, why should he. For all you know he may have to make up any shortfalls in his ticket sales from his own pocket.

Sadly, life is like this, people are expected to get on with it and only occasionally will you find that someone will help you out in such a way. Some people go through life thinking that they should be let off here and there because they cant afford things (look how many tax dodgers there are in the UK) I know thats not what youre talking about but its just the same but on a grander scale

Dont expect things to be given to you on a plate and you wont be disappointed. Thats what you should learn from it
But wait a minute, are we not missing the issue here??
Have not the transport company got a duty to tell it's customers/passengers the fares are going up??!!
There would be posters displayed around the bus for a couple of weeks before the change.
how do we know that they didnt?

I did not know the bus fare had gone up over the weekend, I only found out when he told me that i hadnt given him enough
-- answer removed --
But that's hardly the bus driver's fault. Any changes in fares are clearly displayed at least a week before they change.
i dont think the bus companys tell each passenger in person. Isnt it usually done via the media? newspapers? leaflets at bus stations? posters on buses?

perhaps your complaint should be to the bus company asking why they didnt tell you. It still has nothing to do with the bus driver.

They aren't certainly not in our region.
What region is it, if you don't mind me asking?

Hello and welcome to AB adamhornsby , though not a very good entrance .It will hopefully get better. As for your bus fare , the driver cannot take money from his own pocket and doesn't just let you off. Where I live , the driver would not have let you travel without the fill paid fare . :-) x
