where did the phrase "to Bogart something" originate? I've heard it in Will & Grace ("don't Bogart the heat!") and on a question on this site. It makes me laugh every time I hear it, and would love to know where it came from...

I think it comes from when passing joints, or spliffs or reefers or doobies. It means to hog it, which I'm sure you know. I think it has something to do with the line in Casablanca "of all the (gin) joints in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine" Or at least that was what my father told me. It was also used in a song on the Easy Rider soundtrack "don't bogart that joint my friend". I can't remember what the song is though. Hope some of this is true.
