Technology is not high on my list of accomplishments so please forgive me if I ask a stupid question.

I am replacing my rather ancient mobile phone with an identical one. Can I transfer the SIM card without losing my credit?

you mean identical as in network provider - should be ok then -
why would you lose credit???
