I've just had an email from a senior partner that quotes the phrase 'False of habit'.
I've never heard that one before. Ones you hear often are Damp Squib, or Doggy Dog World.
Are there any others you have heard people say?

"Arguably" is often used in place of "in my opinion".

Well, I'm not sure I'd want to eat anything that had had orgasms in it.
''Does the pope sh!t in the woods'' is one I quite like and do on occasion use.

The 14th century phrase "On tenter hooks" which derives from a wooden frame that hung wet clothes out to dry is often mistaken as "on tender hooks."

My favourite was a company progress report which commented that a recent contract "augers well for our finances". When I joked that this looked as though it was going to make a big hole in them instead, nobody understood, and I had to explain (augur = forecast, auger = large boring tool).
the one that really annoys me (I know picky picky) is "its a mind field"
And how many men talk of their Protrate?
