I've just had an email from a senior partner that quotes the phrase 'False of habit'.
I've never heard that one before. Ones you hear often are Damp Squib, or Doggy Dog World.
Are there any others you have heard people say?
I remember a few years ago overhearing a group of girls discussing all the reports about various foods being bad for you and one young girl in all seriousness said "It's not the food that's bad it's all the orgasms they have in them nowadays.
"reigns of power" (but it has to be written down to see that the user has got it wrong).
My favourite was a company progress report which commented that a recent contract "augers well for our finances". When I joked that this looked as though it was going to make a big hole in them instead, nobody understood, and I had to explain (augur = forecast, auger = large boring tool).
