Why Is There A Union Jack On The Logo?

Is it a sign of solidarity with the Belfast rioters, or an unconnected act of patriotism? Is there any main reason. Why can't we have a nice Spring scene for example?

ummmm, you more picked up on a sub question there.
Hovering a mouse over it reveals a 'Merry Christmas' message!

Perhaps it there to advise US posters that this is a UK site? We seem to get quite a lot of questions where the contributor assumes that the world doesn't exist outside the USA!
maybe its an informative sign, alerting lurkers that its a british site?
