Anyone familiar with the term "nesh" as in to dislike cold and love being warm?? Some people have had no idea what i meant when i've said it, it is just a Midlands thing?? Anyone know where the words come from?? Thanks xx

I'd never heard it in my South Staffs/Black Country upbringing. It was new to me when I moved to Manchester and my wife also uses it (she's from Notts) which all goes to support the info on the link above.
I moved to Norfolk from Derbys and no-one knows what nesh is here. I get some very funny looks sometimes! And yes, I am nesh!! ;-)

Whenever i say I am cold in Manchester which is pretty often, mark you, I get told not to be Nesh

I always thought it was mardy or being a whiner. No wonder no-one understood when i used it myself.

We use the word nesh here in Lancashire aswell.
Anyone know what term you would use for someone who prefers the opposite?
I had never heard that word until I worked with a brummie who was always saying to me " you are nesh, you are "

yes I am familiar with Nesh as in feeling cold I am fom Merseyside and its used here too. I dont knoe whre it originated from though.
