There is a common saying in the north of England when sending children to bed. The saying is 'get up the dancers'. Can you explain the origins of this saying?

Rhyming slang is not exclusive to London - there is a fair amount in Yorkshire, for example - and I think it may be rhyming slang for dancing bears (stairs).
