One of my friends recently told me about a word which is like the stage after paedophilia, fancying a girl who is not a child physically, but is still not, y'know, legal. He might have been making this up.

I wonder whether your friend meant 'ephebophile'? Strictly-speaking that is a lover of young males older than children, though I believe I have heard it used of adolescents generally.

'Hebephile', along the same lines, is also a possibility and certainly more female-orientated.

There are indeed for the 'stage' that you are talking about! There are 2 'stages' after Paedophila which is a condition in which an adult is sexually attracted to a pre-pubescent child. these are 'stages' are Ephebophila: this is a condition in which an adult, usually male, is sexually attracted to young people about the age of puberty. And Hebephilia: which is a condition in which an adult, usually male, is sexually attracted to post-pubertal adolescents (14 to 17). But it is well to bear in mind that a puberty is a hard time for young people, esp, for females, and they are experiencing a lot of changes, physically and emotionally. As such, any sexual advances by an adult is taking advantage of a confused young person!
