A bit of a Joe

I recently read a post on another site where someone refered to thier new job as "a bit of a Joe job" meaning that it was a simple job which most people wouldn't want.

Where does the phrase originate from?

If you look on Google (I just have) the expression joe-job seems to relate to spammers. I'm none the wiser, I hadn't heard the expression before.

There's the American phrase 'an ordinary Joe', meaning anyone .... Joe Kegger, Joe Public, Joe Nobody. (Was the poster American?) So maybe 'a job anyone could do'.
