Making good progress with this. Just got the 10 lines to draw. Lots of thematic material (and lots of fun)

Well done, starwalker. After sailing through last week's I'm finding this heavier going. I've got about half the grid filled, but the perimettric penny still hasn't dropped. Fun so far, though.
Really good fun and, as you say Starwalker, packed full of thematic material. Once you get the lines you will be even more impressed. After a fairly rapid start the solved slowed down considerably due to the jumbles (a fact that was inevitable with all the highlighting/lines). Thanks The Tall'n
..by the way, anyone else fall into the trap of 34D?
Oh yes, midazolam, I did. If there's a trap there, you'll find me in it.
The perimetric penny has dropped but I still have the lines to get. I fell into a different trap expecting a theme more connected with 24 dn. Quite hard work, I though, sorting out the jumbles, after a gently early grid fill.
It's clicked into place now. What a nice rich puzzle.
Just about there (at the appropriate hour !) ... haven't filled in all the end-game yet but will save that for tomorrow ... enjoyable gridfill, quite challenging, but enough accessible clues to get you off to good start and then make you want to persevere through the jumble jungle ... thanks, The Tall'n.
H'm. I have a completed grid, four travellers two modes of transport and the lines. I also have a possible solution the the one they go to meet, but it's the same (bar one letter) as one of the modes of transport. So I'm not yet satisfied I have a full solution.
Otherwise, yes, quite good fun, though the wordsearch at the end is a bit of a struggle and it looks a bit messy, even if the lines are appropriately placed.
And I didn't spot midazolam's trap at 34d until coming here, and it took a while to twig what the trap might be, having not fallen into it in the first place! I think the clue is fairly worded to draw you towards the right answer.
Just after posting, I've spotted the appointee. Game over, and a decent, unequivocal result.
Halfway through i thought this would be impossiple but i made it finally - just on the fair side of tough and an incredible amount of content.

Second mode of transport (first diagrammatically) took me a while - and I wasn't aware of that specific characteristic of them - is there any confirmation in chambers?
Yes abns
Yes, I made Zabadak's error over the appointee but game over, and BRB confirms it all. What a lot of material in one grid! Apart from the jumbles - which, I suppose, were inevitable, this one earns another affirmative vote.
Lots of detail in the grid - including a plausible landscape?
Thanks - hadn't searched for that entry. Much happier now.
I'm mystified by 13A. The obvious answer doesn't fit the down lights.
contendo - it's hard to give a hint without being too specific, but do re-read and consider the preamble carefully
Perseverer - Thanks. If you mean it's jumbled I still have problems fitting it in with 4D, which I haven't solved yet. Maybe that's jumbled as well.
From the preamble 17 answers are jumbled, but there are only 15 that have their numbers within or at the end of the clue. Therefore 2 entries are jumbled with the number at the beginning.
Just a bit concerned about the seating arrangements for my little traveller _ but liked this a lot
Oh dear. Filled the grid and found the four travellers and their means of transport, but totally stuck on the ten straight lines. Hopefully it'll come to me overnight.
