Interesting this one in that I know what the end result should be, with the evident truth clearly displayed, but I can't see how best to get there: I have a number of viable options depending on what you count as a considerable body of letters.
Otherwise a decent set of clues, though I'm not sure about the definition at 1d

Yes, well done jim360. I've finished too after my mental break. A real delight to discover my first thoughts were wrong before 'the evident truth' was revealed after a sudden brainwave.

I'd also like to comment on how impressive some of you solvers are. Over the past few weeks since I've started doing Listeners again I've noticed from this site that some of you are consistently finishing these relatively quickly. Midazolam, perseverer, Ruthrobin, and others. Well done all. And well done Jaques.

Off to a late start, having been on holiday in Northumberland at the weekend. Heavy going, not helped by the fact that my omitted letters are adding up to gibberish. Am I alone in finding the letter order in 9D at variance with the wordplay?

I was also late to this one. Have completed the grid but like others (it appears from the thread above), I can see the evident truth in the grid without moving the body of letters but have not yet figured out which considerable body to move. Better get back to staring at that grid again... contendo - I suggest you have another look at 9d as it had me stumped for a while too.

Progress. I have the first two words of the title but haven't made sense of the rest of it yet. Silversolver - I think there can only be one answer to 9D but I would have interpreted the word "hiding" differently.

I'm in the late-and-staring crowd. As far as I can see there are so many Easter-eggs around that anything is possible. Is there really one move that pulls everything together?

I think the word defined at 22 is a noun TheBear, so there can be no alternative letter latent there (it's the verb form that can take the Y).

Have finally reached the stage that some of you achieved on Friday night, with the grid filled apart from the last letter of 23, the title sorted out and the considerable body (or bodies) of letters identified, but not clear how to move them. Good thing answers don't have to be in the next post.

Thanks tenflags - got there in the end with 23a - as is often the case, hadn't been diligent enough in reading the BRB!
A good bit of grid-staring today has I think got me closer to what I need to do, but frankly at the moment it stills feels like I'm going round in circles!

I had my final pdm when I realised what had to be highlighted was not quite right in the grid as it stood but once the thematic movement was made, the phrase stood out clearly. I didn't really enjoy this one as it seemed too similar to the previous crossword. How about the "fun" sort of puzzle that Dave Tilley remarked on in "Only Connect" where once you had solved the puzzle you had to send in a holiday postcard!!

Finally made it to the bitter end. I think it is clear that it is only the revealed evident truth that should be highlighted. My only doubt is whether the movement of letters should be confined to those elements which affect the evident truth. Similarly situated elements elsewhere in the grid could also be moved but apart from consistency would not add anything to the overall picture.

Another day of grid-staring ahead! I can see the originally less evident (and as some have observed somewhat eccentric) truth contained within the finished grid, but not yet any vestiges of what is to be revealed. Hopefully the magic of posting here will now come into effect!

Elaborating on my last comment, before moving any letters the grid is filled with non-words. I can see a case for moving 10, 20 or even 42 letters and since one ends with non-words (apart from the evident truth) the number of letters to be moved seems to me quite arbitrary. If I am right, that one is changing non-words to non-words, I do not see that there can be a "right" answer.
JdeC - If you have the message from the missing letters then you have a name which should lead you to the evident truth.
