I'm surprised to find I'm starting the thread as this particular puzzle was pretty straightforward after a few tricky ones.
I thought last week's wouldn't have shamed The Listener.
No real surprises and I sometimes think that setters must have been very happy when a certain South African golfer arrived on the scene!

Yes, I'd go so far as to call this one easy; no particularly difficult clues, and the author was easy to spot, and therefore so was the quote. Once the whole perimeter was filled in there wasn't much left to do! Now if a setter could work "Schwartzel" into the wordplay...

Drat, I thought that I'd completed this EV due to having rested my brain for the last 2 EVs, and now you tell me it was easy! I did manage about 75 Telegraph Crosswords while away, to keep the little grey cells exercised. It was interesting to note how time warped some clues were. I was doing the DT Cryptic Crossword Book number 1. Have books 2,3 &4 lined up for the next few holidays, 240 crosswords in each!
