Hi all

It's up. It looks a bit of a challenge. I won't get around to it until the weekend but I hope you all enjoy it.

All the best

The preamble says "Solvers are required to insert the bars". But, but, but - the bars are already there! And the clues are said to be "in order". So maybe it won't be as much of a challenge after all?
And, of course, thanks for the email DJA.
Many thanks as usual Daniel. It looks as though it could detain us a little longer than usual and is likely to be a bit more tricky than one of Araucaria's alphabetical jigsaws.
Thanks as always DJA

When I saw the title I thought we were in for a Listener type Carte Blanche -
what a pity as I hoped it would pass the time until the cricket starts.
There are in fact a couple of bars missing. Threw me for a moment!
Thanks, Daniel.
If there are bars missing, how do I work out the number of letters in the answers?
Hi Zita

Both 10 letters.
Hi K. Thanks
Thanks as ever Daniel! Luckily only a couple of bars to enter - decided on a BIG grid to see and fit the down clues in! My eyes need a rest now!
Agreed, just two missing bars, and needed to make the grid symmetric as stated. Anyone know where the H and G come from in the second of the two ten-letter lights thus formed?
Germy, it's not an anagrammatic clue.
Am battling with this, never having attempted a carte-blanche puzzle.
Macvicar's domain with capital and money...not good.
I think this is paris?????
Scotsman after bass tuba from the Muses' home ????co?i??
(I think this ends ian)
Any help, advice, information would be very welcome.
Paris chan(g)e

Helicon ian
Thanks, that might help me to get to grip with this!
A lot of people would save a lot of time if Kayakamina simply posted the complete solution as soon as he completes the puzzle.

He rarely deigns to give a hint, preferring to provide solutions as if they should have been obvious to all.

I know we don't have to look here. But if we do, it's for additional clues, not solutions or boastful statements about how quickly the latest puzzle was solved.
You have no cause to attack Kayakamina;he is a most helpful poster and, as you say yourself, you don't have to come on here.
K is not the only person who found this puzzle easy; read the above comments. I, for one, do not find it easy & will spend the best part of a week on it.
Bootlebarth

Your remarks about Kayakamina are unfair & uncalled for. He is a very active member of this site and his contributions have helped hundreds of posters over many years.
Having viewed your profile, it really is a bit rich of you to criticise, when you only visit the site to avail yourself of a free copy of the Spectator crossword.
I agree. If it is the case that Bootlebarth is picking up Daniel's kind offering then it is up to Daniel to consider whether this should continue. I make no judgement here but just state the obvious.
Absolutely!Think you are persona non grata bootlebarth!
K is most helpful, clever, & patient.I totally agree with both Zita & Toalisi
He often gives a hint so as not to spoil others enjoyment.
He is no way either smug or boastful, just has a brilliant mind, unlike you!
