I've emailed you a scanned copy C.
From the few entries I've filled in, I don't think so

Thanks- once again it looks trickier than the Listener though :-(
I have the theme. Not sure everyone would agree that it was an atrocity.
No symmetry...Other than the place, I do not think the rest of the second group spells anything in particular - and I do not think 'outline' is an accurate description of what gets removed since the interior of the shape is included.

Still it's a worthy Inquisitor - if rather dark...
Just wondering if the place 'removed' is on the bottom row.
Another excellent crossword from Shark - what an achievement to have only real words in the grid after the removal of the words and shape.
I'm stuck around the middle. Any help with 'Good base for hammer. perhaps'?
bone? (bon + e)
many thanks jaw
sorry, jaw

I've pretty much finished this, and agree with slaney, but have two questions.

(1) If I have the correct letters, it seems to me that we are to remove a
shape, NOT just its outline; or am I missing something?

(2) Do the actual letters removed within this 'shape' have any significance?
Nothing strikes me as obvious?

Many thanks.
I too have removed all the letters within a shape , so that the total number of letters removed relates to the date. I didn't see any meaning to the letters removed inside the shape.
Yes, quite a tour de force by Shark.

I have completed the grid and a shape of sorts, can anyone confirm the total no. of letters relates to the last two digits of the year the event took place ? Thanks
Yes it does.

I wasted a deal of time looking for a shape coming down from the top, as it were, rather than a shape rising up from the bottom!
still struggling to fill the grid! Any hints on 'cabbage consumed etc' and 'Once cooked etc'?
Thanks Red Dave

Still not convinced by my shape even though all the words remaining are real...

Boreas, haven't worked through the wordplay but in the clue for "Cabbage etc. " the definition is "salt" so ends in "-ate", with the first part a reference to the latin name for cabbage. The solution to the clue "Once cooked..." refers to "back". Not sure where the "mutton" bit comes in, there's probably an old 4-letter word that ends in "-en".

Think I'm nearly finished, but I can't find the survivor. I'm looking for a six-footer.
