A fine puzzle though I would have liked more of an endgame. The method of entering the thematic answers is pretty easily deduced, and the revelation of the quote elicits an "ah" as you see how it relates to the entry method, but that's about it. Still, a good workout for a Saturday evening.

Spring may finally be here - heading towards 78 today with rain forecast.

I agree it was too easy to spot what which answers needed to be adjusted, but I then wrongly assumed a theme, and also by wrongly spacing the last seven letters of the correct letters of the misprints, leading me to look in Brewers under the wrong headings! Then worked on otherl words of the proverb and looked at the correct headings.
Today started off overcast and drizzly, but at around 13.00 the sun came out and the temperature soared to 20°C (68°F), very pleasant, but I believe I can see the lawns and hedges growing!

Rather liked dr. b's 'ah' moment. Almost done and dusted but only ended up with nine thematically adjusted entries and still can't find the tenth, plus haven't grasped the word-play for 29d

Re 29d find your answer in the clue and then look at the other bits backwards.

I thought that a few of the anagrams and a few of the misprints were a bit weak but they didn't really prevent me enjoying the puzzle thanks Eclogue.

Thanks Garaman, obvious really, but not to me late last night - had tried all sorts of backward combinations.
