22A: Deep watering hole the hub for watering (5) I _ N _ R. The answer must be INNER but how on earth does that work? Can anyone tell me what the definition part is, and how the rest of the clue is designed?

14A: Around start of game, go for tea (5) P - K - E. The answer must be PEKOE but, again, I can't begin to find how the clue has been worked out!
