It is a bit early to give up, but I know I am never going to be sure of the answer to 10 across "Short of energy, add cold metal". I have ?INC which I am pretty sure is right and it seems likely that the answer is ZINC. The "INC" could be an abbreviation for "incorporated!" (i.e. added) or at least the "C" could come from cold but if I am right, why the first letter "Z"? Perhaps I am barking up entirely the wrong tree!
