I'm pretty sure I've got the answers to the following - but, as usual, I can't understand the word play. Can anyone explain them?
21 across:Faint Welsh emblem? (4,4) FELL OVER ?
2 down: The English going to my home city (7) CORINTH ?
8 down: Reached high point of teaching: keeping student body away! (7) CRESTED ?
22 down: Checks climbing plant (5) VETCH ?
Sorry to be so thick!
Thanks in advance

21 across is, I think, keel over ie faint but also an anagram of leek. I'm as stumped as you are on the others!
2d TH(e) after COR (my!) and IN (home)
keel over
8d CREED (teaching) containing outer letters of S(tuden)T
creed=teaching
st=student-body

Thank you!
Definitely 'keel over' = 'faint'
22D VET = check, CH = abbreviation for check
