I have come up with some cannibals - Laestrogynes, Laestrygones and Laistrygones. Which of these, if any, is correct?

Laestrygones

Thanks, but can I ask why that's the correct option?
Apologies if wrong It fits pattern for cannibals. Didnt realise others fit as alternatives . Looks to be an anagram in amongst
Question Author
The first two options have all the same letters, just differently arranged - so I couldn't see why one was better than the other! The last option has a slightly different assortment of letters. I'll keep mulling.

Thanks for trying, showing an interest.
How about

L = Large
Nasty Ogres (anagrammed)
+ E (mEn) (Heartily)
Question Author
Thanks, that sounds good - but it also gives both of the first options! (And both of these can be the cannibals.) Chambers doesn't have any of these words.
I would stay with the one that appears most often in a search. Laestrygones

Mamya, thanks. I like there to be only one definitive answer, but that doesn't seem to be the case here!
Your call, sorry.

Mamya, I did/do appreciate your help - my grumbling was more at the thought of there being two, apparently equally correct, answers to a clue. This, fortunately, doesn't happen very often.
In his poem, Ithaka, Cavafy used Laistrygonians.

As you set out for Ithaka
hope your road is a long one,
full of adventure, full of discovery.
Laistrygonians, Cyclops,
Doesn't fit the parse though.
