18d your 2nd L is wrong (across answer is tend) -if you look on the other speccie thread on here bibble gave a link to find the unclued answers

I do not understand how the second L in 18d is wrong, as it seems to fit neatly with the penultimate L in 42a. Any further clarifications? Thanks!

18d is 4,6 not 4,7 ... check the bars in your grid
so yes that L is correct in 42a, but it's the A immediately before that's wrong (41a is te N d)
