Also known as grains of paradise, a spice derived from a plant in the ginger family, tastes like pepper, coriander and cardamom (10) M-L-G-E-T-.

I found an answer to this but it's too short......is there an alternative spelling?

Wiki's example with 'E's doesn't allow for the longer spelling, though?
Many other definitions on Google with the e's and two t's.

As you say Lik Heigh-ho.I wish setters wouldn't use clues that have alternative solutions.

I'm sticking with Chambers...

Malaguetta
Looks like this is going to depend on what dictionary is used by the Telegraph
Having just seen that the prize for this is Chambers Dictionaries, it would probably be prudent to go with Malaguetta.
Strange that neither spelling appears in the on line Chambers.
The online and the printed version don't always match.
Looks like I need a printed version.
