Pelmet

Backspace
Second = BACK + SPACE = Room
1.Yes r(ron) + anagram of fringe
2 Backspace
Ignore ron in parse.
How do you parse pelmet Lynne?
Pelmet

Elm (undefined) inside pet (stroke)

Back (second) space (room)
Stroke is 'Pet' the rest is an undefined theme word.
Ah! didn't realise there were undefined parts to the crossword.
It's also 'Rod's fringe' as in 'curtain rod'
Pelmet. ELM inside pet (stroke). Confusing because stroke rod is also a term in piston engine technology (pet?)
