I'm nearly there but stuck! I've the grid filled in and the decoded message, but cannot, for the life of me, find the 17 cells that form a cross. Also does the message refer to the grid or something to do with the 17 cells. I've also found a poet in the grid,is he anything to do with it or a red herring? Hope this all makes sense and some kind person can push me in the right direction!

The poets name is the horizontal part of the cross, two crossing vertical words give part of the first line of a verse. The message refers to two other lines in that poem.

I have one letter left - standing for a girl's Best Friend as in the title I suppose!
