Make 'netting' hedgerows to prevent birds from nesting a criminal offence.
They need all the help we can give them given the awful decline in the number of birds over the years. Thank you.

Baldric thanks for the link (and signature), that is where I first read it. Makes my blood boil as well. Just as well I haven't actually seen any or I'd probably be in trouble for tearing them down.
We had a dovecote at work once, which had wire put over it, as they wanted to take it down. There were actually babies inside it at the time and I literally did tear the wire off. Nobody ever told me off for it either.
I won't disrupt your thread, sorry. The good news is, that even though that residential home was eventually pulled down and converted into flats, I had a client there years later... and they still had the dovecote in the grounds :-). But seriously, the parents couldn't get in and the babies couldn't get out... it was disgusting.
