21 down:Craftsman perhaps who knows rank (4) T?ER I'm sure it should be tier (tier is a rank, but I can't work out the craftsman bit)
18 across: Kingston's fruits contrarily try to reach California (6) A???RS

Thank you JJ109 & ProfessorMaisie. I'm really enjoying this Inquisitor, they always take me 'days' to do but the feeling of accomplishment makes it worth while! Out of interest how long did this one take you?

It took me about 2hrs solid (I don't leave a puzzle until it's done, Ripper - with some of them I can still be slogging away until the sun comes up again!).
I think this was tougher than most Chalicea puzzles.
